The Union Cabinet has approved the expansion of PMAY-G and PMAY-U 2.0 to provide assistance for an additional 3 crore houses by 2029.
Changes in PMAY Scheme

Eligibility Criteria (Check Your Status)
To be eligible for the 2026 phase, the applicant must meet the following:
No Pucca House: The applicant or any family member must not own a permanent house anywhere in India.
Income Categories:
EWS: Annual income up to ₹3 Lakh.
LIG: Annual income between ₹3 Lakh – ₹6 Lakh.
MIG: Annual income up to ₹18 Lakh.
Priority Groups: Women, SC/ST, Transgender individuals, and Senior Citizens are given special preference.
How to Apply (Step-by-Step)
Visit Official Portal: Go to pmaymis.gov.in (Urban) or [suspicious link removed] (Rural).
Citizen Assessment: Click on ‘Citizen Assessment’ and enter your Aadhaar Number.
Fill Application: Provide personal details, bank account info, and income certificate.
Submission: Save and print your Assessment ID for future tracking.
Latest Updates PMAY (January 2026)
